What We Found in Norton 360
We were impressed with the effective use of resources and speed of the program. The software suite sets out to cover a lot of basic and advance security, and
delivers on every aspect, providing useful tools and effective features in a convenient and understandable interface. Symantec has done a lot to improve the
most recent version of Norton 360.We also like the easy to use backup and restore process. We also found Norton Insight very useful, which makes it possible
to only scan files that might actually be at risk and significantly save time. Also we found the security features more advance and improved from the
previous version. We had no problems installing and setting up Norton 360. The process is direct and very quick. The navigation across the each panel is bit
confusing for the people who are new to it because it opens it in new window. Fortunately, the interface is consistent throughout.

-The program is easy to use and light on system resource.

-Ideal for users who want all-in-one protection.

-Crashing and overaggressive filtering of resources are some of the user reported cases.

Microsoft Security Essentials is the promised successor to the Windows Live OneCare. Focused solely on anti-malware functions, it has average performance, as OneCare did. But that may improve during the beta—and the software is free.



Pros:
Generally decent at removing and blocking malware.
Small download.
Simple user interface.
Free for personal use.

Cons:
Less effective against rootkits and scareware.
Requires surprisingly large amount of disk space.

The free beta of Norton Internet Security looks great and it outperforms the best stand alone anti malware tools. It can also hide techinical information from the beginners which only expert understands. And Symantec has finally replaced the lone antispam and parental controls of the past with components that really work.

Users can pick and choose their preferred trusted processes and create rules for detection, such as scanning for SCR files created by an email client. You can also avail yourself of the scheduler, and create a system restore point before moving threats into quarantine.



Pros:
It offers real-time prevention of virus and malware infections before malicious code installs itself on your PC
Fast install.
Fast scan removes rootkits.
Identifies known threats by name.
Works alongside existing anti-malware to enhance protection.

Cons:
It does not offer an on-demand scan for viruses already on your computer, though it will perform an on-demand scan for other malware.
Makes user decide whether to allow potentially malicious unknowns.
Can't detect social networking attacks like rogue security software.
